Mariska

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night. I didn't watch the entire show because I went to pick up fresh, homemade, and delicious cannoli (I know "cannolis", although grammatical incorrect, sounds better) from a former teacher and incredible mentor. They were delish!

Of what I did catch of the Emmys, I had to note know beautiful Mariska Hargitay looked in this Vera Wang dress.

Take a closer look here:

Note the handcandy by Fred Leighton. Stunning!

Granted, I'm a little biased.  Since I've been watching Law & Order: SVU since I was in elementary school, I'm always impressed by Mariska. However, you really can't deny the stylish nature of this outfit.

Oh Google, how you make me happy.

This is just so exciting!! Google is now offering free national calls via gmail. More information about it can be found here.

Haha this reads like a gmail advertisement. It's really not though, I'm just thrilled.

Even though I prefer texting to actually talking on the phone, having this option is likely to come in handy if something unfortunate happens to my phone, again. I mean, I'm really terrible with phones. At least now I know that gmail's got me covered whenever I encounter a cellphone problem.

Cape Town Fashion Week

Cape Town, South Africa held its Fashion Week August 12-14 this year. Some pieces from the shows caught my eye.

From Stoned Cherrie and it's Love Movement Lines comes these lovely skirts with a classic twist.

My favorite outfit from the collection has to be this piece by Ruff Tung. It's just too much cuteness. I could definitely see myself rocking this outfit.

African Print

In the Fall of 2008, a college buddy of mine designed clothes for a school cultural/fashion show using African print. His designs were fabulous and I loved them. As someone who has always worn African dresses, I have always been aware of the potential for African inspired designs to gain international interest. I'm really glad that, as Shakira said during her performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Inauguration Concert, "This time for Africa." It makes me happy.

I can't really blog about fashion, can I?

This video is incredibly inspiring. Isn't it incredibly motivating? Prior to watching it, I wasn't too sure that I was going to embark on this adventure I call a personal style/fashion and interest blog. With all the fabulous fashion blogs out there, I must admit that this endeavor is a little intimidating. However, why wouldn't I publish a fashion blog? I've never been able to sit on the sidelines. Happy Reading!
